Water Services

Apple Valley Foothill Water District is 100% potable (drinking) water.

Where We Get Our Water:

The Apple Valley Foothill Water District gets its water from two groundwater wells within its influence.

How We Keep It Clean:

Apple Valley Foothill Water District routinely monitors for contaminants in your drinking water.  Drinking water, including bottled water, may reasonably be expected to contain at least small amounts of some contaminants.  The presence of contaminants does not necessarily indicate that the water poses a health risk.  More information about contaminants and potential health effects can be obtained by calling the EPA's Safe Drinking Water Hotline at (800) 426-4791 or on the EPA's website:(www.epa.gov/safewater).

The Functions Of This Water District:

Source of Supply - The District produces water for distribution from two water wells.   Approximately 85 acre-feet of water are needed each year to serve the District customers.

Pumping - Pipelines that bring water to the storage tanks from the water wells are located above the areas needed to be served.  This requires that water be pumped uphill to tanks situated high enough to store the water until District customers ask for the water.  Water pressure is boosted using a VFD pump to a minimum of 30 PSI in the surrounding neighborhoods surrounding the water storage tanks.

Operations and Distribution - The District uses water mains, storage reservoirs, and pumps to keep the water flowing through the system.   System reliability requires monitoring, repairing, installing, and maintaining the District facilities.

Meter Services - All water delivered to District customers is measured through individual meters.  Meter services install, read, test, and maintain these meters.

For additional water quality or operational clarification, please see our annual Consumer Confidence Report or contact the District Office at (760) 247-1101.  We want our valued customers to be informed about their water utility.  If you want to learn more, you are invited to attend any regularly scheduled Board of Directors meetings held every fourth Tuesday of the month.  The meetings are held with Open Session discussions at 10:00 a.m.  All meetings will be held at the District office at 22545 Del Oro Road, Apple Valley, CA 92308.
